Using the best of Australian ingredients and the best of European chocolate making techniques has been a winning combination for chocolatier and owner of Mayfield Chocolates, Peter Ingall, whose many awards have included a gold medal in the chocolate-making heart of the world Belgium.
Drop into this shop on the Terrace where Peter is not only the hands-on chocolate maker but a fascinating host who is happy to discuss everything to do with chocolates and the chocolate making process including his house secrets of using fresh cream and cocoa butter instead of vegetable fats.
Must-tries are his Florentines or pretty much anything from his unique range of Australian-flavoured chocolates such as the Queensland pineapple and dark rum Sunshine truffle or the Tas Leatherwood honey and Qld ginger filled Hinterland Truffle.
As such not only is this a go-to place for chocolates that are totally unique but also for the overseas visitor wanting to take home a non-run-of-the-mill taste of Australia.
